I read an interesting article this morning that analyzed prostitution as a considerable factor for the spreading of Covid-19 in our societies. It compared the spreading mechanisms of the bubonic plague where infected flea jumping between rats lead the infection to humans. The article made the analogy that the flea today are the touring prostitutes that every day meet a considerable amount of men performing activities that hardly can be classified as social distancing. These men eventually transfer the virus to friends and family and the virus finds a channel for transmission that literally lives in the murky waters of our society. The core of the article posed the interesting question if our lust for sex on one side and the will to make as easy money as possible on the other, are serious contributing factors that favor this particular virus in the ever growing pandemic.
