It seems from my understanding and googling this is very early in the process, not something which will be implemented in a nearby future atleast.

And someone on a forum said it would be anonymous you could put virtual e-kr on a USB memory and give it to someone as example, tho I don't know if that's just a speculation.

Who would dare to visit any escort lady and pay with that! It would be very hard to explain that money transfer for the police and judge... Goverment will have 100% control of evry person in the country when they stop using cash here, worst thing is that most people don´t understand this untill it is to late...

February 2022 is when step 2 of their project is scheduled to be completed. Won't be launched for several years. And depending of their success, it might not even launch at all. There are still very much to work on, including security, so it's a long way from finished. Also the plan is (or was at least when i last read about it) to introduce this as an alternative for cash, not a complete replacement. Think of it as Swish, but the Swedish government is the bank and are responsible for the money instead of a private bank like Swedbank or Nordea.

TLDR; Cash won't be removed next year, don't worry :)

Shops not accepting cash and the news about e-krona has nothing to do with each other, it's just a coincidence :) If they would remove cash completely in less then a year there would be much more information in the Swedish news and everyone would know about it.

One reason for the increase in shops not accepting cash lately could be because of the pandemic, minimizing contact between people. But for a long time many larger stores have wanted to remove cash for security reasons. Having cash = risk for robbery. On the other hand, you have smaller businesses that prefer or only accept cash. One reason is that they have to pay a fee for payments that is done with a card. Also they can avoid tax for some of the money they earn, getting paid "under the table". And then you have places that are open 24/7 that don't accept cash at night, also for the risk of robbery.

So yeah, you dont have to worry for a couple of years :)

Hi 👑 Rosse Marie do not worry even if it becomes relevant then it will take several years to introduce which I myself do not believe much in but anyway ATMs will exist even then 👍 Maybe it will be relevant for the banks so they can do deals with the new E-krona but as I said no decisions have been made and it's just the Riksbank's thoughts nothing else so great it on their website! 👍

The best thing of all is bitcoin. Its not hard either. So even if they would release e krona, there will always be alternatives.
