Shops not accepting cash and the news about e-krona has nothing to do with each other, it's just a coincidence :) If they would remove cash completely in less then a year there would be much more information in the Swedish news and everyone would know about it.
One reason for the increase in shops not accepting cash lately could be because of the pandemic, minimizing contact between people. But for a long time many larger stores have wanted to remove cash for security reasons. Having cash = risk for robbery. On the other hand, you have smaller businesses that prefer or only accept cash. One reason is that they have to pay a fee for payments that is done with a card. Also they can avoid tax for some of the money they earn, getting paid "under the table". And then you have places that are open 24/7 that don't accept cash at night, also for the risk of robbery.
So yeah, you dont have to worry for a couple of years :)
