Specialized units that catch punters always work in civilian cars and undercover. What happened to you is probably hotel staff called the regular police. Hotel staff receive special training to quickly see ongoing prostitution. Think about cleaners finding lots of used condoms and tissues in garbage bins in some hotel rooms. Or cameras seeing lots of men going in and out same room. It's very easy to see when you know what to look for. Especially now when hotels are empty because of Corona. So going to hotels in Sweden is a big NO-NO.
